Overview
A loaded roll-off concentrates a lot of weight on small steel wheels and the delivery truck's path. With a couple of precautions, you can avoid cracks, gouges, and stains on concrete, asphalt, or pavers.
Before delivery
- Clear the placement area and the truck's approach path
- Have plywood or 2x boards ready (a good hauler brings these)
- Point out soft ground, sprinkler heads, septic, and overhead wires
- Pick the firmest, flattest spot — avoid fresh sealcoat or new pavers

It's unlikely when the container is placed on boards that spread the weight. Damage usually only happens on already-weak surfaces or when a container is dragged. We use boards under the wheels to protect your driveway.
Can a dumpster go on grass or dirt?
It can, but soft or wet ground risks sinking and rutting. If the driveway isn't an option, tell us about the ground conditions so we can plan placement and use boards to keep the container stable.
